I bought myself and Corinne tickets to see Rufus Wainwright. I have seen him before at the KoolHaus in Toronto, which shocked me because I was expecting a dark room full of people wearing black, engaging in performance art, yelping: He loves me! He loves my caribou! making deeper-than-thou artistic dance moves to convey the sentiment.
Instead, I got a room full of the city's hottest music stars and a bunch of gay men (my concert companion - and roommate - being one of them, and an acquaintance from university who bumped into me and was either giddy because 1. he'd been recently outed and was eager to tell me or 2. he was thrilled that I had gone in the mens' washroom to pee while schlongs were exhibited in all their peeing glory right near me). Needless to say, these were good times, good times. This time, it will be a more low-key affair, at an actual seated venue. I recall the last time I sat down at a concert, I was as happy as a little girl.
And I feel fine....... - 2004-02-23 |
