outpost mag obsession

Thanks to Messy Nessy, I am forced to rekindle my relationship with Outpost Magazine, the best goddarn travel magazine out there (and Canadian, too!).

Add this to the list of other things I need to buy in the next week, and I will be one poor poor lass:

1. Bed

2. Some sort of cheap Ikea shelving unit

3. 2 meals a day at random restaurants

3. More books, CDs...

Yes, all the necessary things in life. It's great to actually be in one place for a while, with no commitment to leave, no commitment to stay. This is actually the first time in my life where I actually feel like I'm going with the flow and not thinking about my next journey.

Instead of travelling myself, I've been buying travel books (McCarthy's Bar and In the Navel of the Moon) and trying to chat it up with every backpacker I come across. I met a really cool Japanese gal named Tae. She's so stunningly beautiful in that I-Don't-Realize-It sort of way, very bubbly and charming. I want to surround myself with more people like that. I also met this Mexican girl named Fabi who would get angry whenever people didn't smile as they came into the room. Smiling is such a wonderful, wonderful thing and too many people are just so uptight (including myself on many occasions); it bugs the hoochies out of me.

Last night, I felt so at ease with the world. I walked down the path along English Bay Beach, watched my kazillionth sunset and then strutted alongside the tourists on Denman. I felt like I was back in Australia, or somehow catapulted into a night scene in California. And then the convertibles zoomed by, replete with women and their high hair yapping into their cell phones.

I had to laugh. So flamboyant.

All right. I can't believe I'm puttering around in this cafe when an Outpost Magazine is to be had! Alas! Farewell!
