The bottom cuffs of my trousers are damp and cling to my ankles in a most uncomfortable manner. I clench my umbrella and stand in the middle of greenery, frightened yet overcome by the sparseness of the land, the void of human presence and the pitter patter of the water colliding with my cover above. Does anyone know I'm here? I ask myself, whispering out loud so as to feel less alone. No one answers. Only the continous tup-tup-tup of the raindrops. I tug on my trousers, pull the ends from the sopping grass and walk away, smiling.
And I feel fine....... - 2004-02-23 |
