Seattle rated high on the funkometer. There were buskers every five feet. And the people walked around at a snail's pace. And many people opened doors for us. And many people in the downtown centre smiled at us while we took photos - not that flat smile indicative of annoyance, but a genuine "Wow! You're taking photos!" response. And many people smiled. Corinne, with her first real relaxed and concentrated look at an American city, agreed that it seemed they were more outwardly friendlier down in Seattle than any Canadian city. I would have to agree. On a related note, I know a few Canadians who give Americans an unnecessarily bad rap. People who complain the most tend to have a serious chip on their shoulder about the exact thing they're complaining about. We are a nation bleeding with insecurity. Sorry I missed yeh, pasha!!!! There shall be a next time when the work schedules are free and your mighty Peugeot is ready for a healthy putter-putter up the road.
And I feel fine....... - 2004-02-23 |
